We Are The World by Michael Jackson

In response to Bee’s Monday Music Blog party

Michael Jackson’s charitable work and humanitarian awards continued with the release of “We Are the World” (1985), co-written with Lionel Richie. The song was recorded on January 28, 1985 and released worldwide in March 1985 to aid the poor in the United States and Africa. The song earned $63 million for famine relief, and became one of the best-selling singles of all time, with 20 million copies sold. It won four Grammys for 1985, including Song of the Year for Jackson and Richie as its writers. So here it is.

  1. I remember when this was released. It was a Huuuge deal. In the 80’s there was a rash of celebrities getting together to make songs like this for charity, but I think this was one of the first. Most of them were for African famine like this one, but Dionne Warwick made one for AIDS research, and there was “Hands Across America” which was for homeless and hungry here in the US. I actually remember doing our own “Hands Across” our school on that day!

    1. Oh really, I did not even know that except for this one. Thanks for sharing…I’ll definitely search about them. It’s so good when celebrities come together and join hands for charity or any other social work…people look upto them..and artists are the representatives of the country and have the highest following.

I’m grateful that you took time to make a comment. 🙏 Thanaaaaaksss alotttt for following my blog.🌼😍
